The Department of B.Com. Business Process Management organized a guest session on "Building Resilience: Coping with Setbacks and Failures" led by Ms. Biji Tushar, a renowned leadership coach, author, mentor and influencer. She shared practical strategies for overcoming challenges, with interactive activities highlighting the importance of discomfort and teamwork in building resilience. The session, attended by 156 students of Commerce and Management, concluded with inspiring real-life stories and empowering takeaways, motivating participants to turn setbacks into opportunities for growth.

The session emphasized on the vital role of IT in enhancing business efficiency, adaptability, and customer-centricity, supported by examples from companies like Amazon and Zomato. The session, attended by 50 students, concluded with an engaging Q&A, leaving participants with valuable insights into the integration of IT and business.

An educational visit to the National Institute of Securities Market (NISM), Patalganga, on 2nd September 2024. A total of 48 students from the BMS, BFMA, BBI, and BAF programs participated. The session, led by Dr. Shreyas Vyas and Mr. Ashutosh Kumar, provided an in-depth overview of the securities markets and career opportunities in the sector. Topics like capital raising, market participants, and risk-return balance, career paths in investment banking, financial analysis, and wealth management were discussed. Students were awarded participatory certificates by NISM.
Essay Writing Contest organized to celebrate International Youth Day

International Youth Day was celebrated by organizing an essay writing competition for FY (BPM) students. The event aimed to encourage critical thinking, creativity, and self-expression among young minds. - Four thought-provoking topics were given to the participants: The role of youth in shaping the future of our nation, Impact of social media on youth: positive or negative, Tolerance vs acceptance: understanding the difference, Prevention is the key: strategies for avoiding substance abuse. The competition witnessed enthusiastic participation from the students, showcasing their writing skills and thought-provoking ideas. The event successfully celebrated International Youth Day by providing a platform for young minds to express themselves and share their visions for a better future.

The event featured Mr. Ravikumar Murthy, Region Head of the Academic Interface Programme at TCS, who shared valuable insights on aligning academia with industry needs. The key highlights discussed various TCS initiatives, including expert lectures, industry visits, and career workshops. Emphasis was laid on staying relevant in the era of Industry 4.0, emerging technologies, and SMAC (Social, Mobile, Analytics, and Cloud). The session aimed to prepare students for the corporate world , ensuring they thrive in the rapidly evolving BPM landscape.
Guest Lecture on ‘Disposal and Management of Waste’

On October 13, 2022, the IQAC organised a guest lecture on ‘Disposal and Management of Chemical and Other Waste’ (विविध प्रयोगशाळेत व इतरत्र निर्माण होणाऱ्या टाकाऊजन्य पदार्थांचे/रसायनांचे व्यवस्थापन) to help laboratory attendants and assistants to understand the proper procedures of disposing and managing different types of waste generated in the laboratory. The speaker was Ms. Seema Redkar (former Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation Officer), who has done exemplary work in the field of waste management in India and abroad, in such countries as Netherlands, Norway and Israel. She is also the recipient of prestigious awards such as from the Government of Israel, the ‘Women Achievers Award’ from Mayor of Mumbai, and the Times Foundation Award. The lecture aimed at assisting lab attendants and lab assistants, especially those newly recruited ones, to understand the best procedures for managing the different types of waste generated in the laboratories. Ms. Redkar explained the guidelines for waste management, and also discussed the various practices adopted by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) for this. She further discussed the small but effective ways for laboratory staff to safeguard themselves from diseases, such as regularly washing hands with soap, or using masks and gloves, and maintaining personal hygiene. She also emphasised the importance of segregating dry and wet waste in the laboratory, as also the disposal of liquid waste. Finally, Ms. Redkar spoke about the techniques and practices adopted worldwide for the effective management of waste. NSS volunteers and Students of the Department of Sociology had prepared posters on the theme of environmental awareness, and this poster exhibition was inaugurated by Ms. Redkar, who appreciated the theme and spoke on the need for such an initiative. The lecture was attended by nearly 60 Administrative Staff members (including laboratory staff), and they found the lecture highly beneficial.
RUSA-sponsored Guest Lecture on ‘Menstruation – Facts and Myths’

On January 11, 2023, IQAC, ICC and NSS jointly organised a RUSA-sponsored guest lecture on ‘Menstruation – Facts and Myths’. The speaker was Dr. Kersi Avari, an eminent embryologist and a renowned figure in the field of Assisted Reproductive Therapy and techniques. This lecture was in accordance with the UGC guidelines regarding gender sensitization, and was attended by more than 140 Staff and Students of the College. This programme was conducted in two-parts. A survey was undertaken by Student volunteers designated as “Gender Champions”, to ascertain the level of menstrual awareness amongst the Staff and Students of the College. Responses and queries obtained from the survey were passed on to Dr. Avari in advance, who addressed these issues in his talk. Dr Avari explained the physiology of female reproductive organs and their functioning, provided detailed information about the process of menstruation, and dispelled associated superstitions and myths. His audio-visual presentation was followed by an interactive session with the audience.
