1. Guest Lecture and Workshop on Breaking Barriers Through Lens By Zoya Lobo India’s First Transgender Photo-Journalist
The Department of Multimedia and Mass Communication had the honour of hosting a thought-provoking guest lecture and workshop titled "Breaking Barriers Through Lens" by Zoya Lobo, India’s First Transgender Photo-Journalist. The event took place on 19/08/2023 and gathered students and faculty in a celebration of diversity, storytelling, and empowerment. 60 students and 3 teachers attended the workshop.
2. RUSA sponsored workshop on Filmmaking
Department of BA in Multimedia and Mass Communication organized a workshop on filmmaking on 3rd and 4th October 2023 which was conducted by Mr. Manish Kumar Kaushik and Mr. Ashish Mestry, Cinematographer and Film maker. 85 students and 3 teachers attended this workshop. Engaging in hands-on activities and interactive sessions, attendees gained practical experience and profound insights into the art of cinema.
3. Visit to the Broadcast India Show’23
Students of Department of BA in Multimedia and Mass Communication and Department of Visual Art visited the Broadcast India Show’23, an annual event showcasing the latest advancements in the broadcast, film, audio, and radio industries on 10th October 2023. The event brought together industry professionals, technology enthusiasts, and innovators from around the world. 60 students along with 2 teachers attended this show.
4. Webinar on Media & Financial Literacy
The Department of Multimedia and Mass Communication hosted an enlightening webinar on media and financial literacy, featuring the esteemed CA Omkar Sabne as the keynote speaker on 9th September 2023. 81 students and 3 teachers attended the webinar.
5. Guest Lecture on Research Methodology
The Department of Multimedia and Mass Communication organised a workshop by Dr. Romani Sen Shitak, Assistant Professor, Dept. of Mass Media, K. B. P. Hinduja College delivered an insightful talk on "Research Methodology’ and then conducted Guidance for Master's Dissertation Students on 9th September 2023. 10 participants attended the workshop.
6. Halloween celebration
The Halloween celebration at Patkar Varde college was a spectacular event, where the campus came alive with an array of vibrant and creative costumes. It was organised on 31st October 2023. Students enthusiastically embraced the Halloween spirit, transforming the college into a colorful spectacle. From spooky ghosts to popular movie characters, the campus was filled with an assortment of imaginative outfits. Approximately 100 students from different departments celebrated this day.
7. Happy Lens Photography Competition
The Department of Multimedia and Mass Communication marked the occasion of World Photography Day in a captivating and creative manner by hosting the Intercollegiate "Happy Lens" photography competition on 19th August 2023. This Intercollegiate competition aimed to celebrate the art of photography while highlighting the rich and diverse tapestry of tribal cultures through the theme "Tribal Culture." Total 37 students participated in this competition. Winners of this competition are First Prize- Rishikesh Rajmane, Second Prize- Nakul Ketkar, Third Prize- Anmol Pardeshi.
8. Guest Lecture on Advertising Agency
The Department of Multimedia and Mass Communication organised a guest lecture on the intriguing world of advertising agencies, featuring Mr. Sheetal Paknikar, the esteemed CEO of Seven Twenty Ten Network Agency on 2nd September 2023. The lecture was a resounding success, providing our students with valuable insights into the dynamic realm of advertising. 50 students from BAMMC and Visual Arts department and 2 faculties attended the guest lecture.
9. Visit to SCREENXX AWARDS
The Department of Multimedia and Mass Communication undertook a visit to Adgully presents Screenexx Summit and Awards on 3rd November 2023 to gain invaluable insights into the ever-evolving Media and Entertainment (M&E) industry. 58 students and 2 faculties attended the function.
10. Dikshamram- A Peer to Peer Activity: Film Screening
The Department of Multimedia and Mass Communication organised a compelling film screening event featuring the renowned movie "Udaan" On 2nd September 2023. This initiative, framed as a peer-to-peer activity, aimed to strengthen the sense of community among students while promoting cinematic storytelling appreciation. 40 students participated in this activity.
11. Visit to Vasai Fort
The Department of Multimedia and Mass Communication undertook a visit to Vasai Fort on 27/08/2023. The primary objective was to gain insights into history, architecture, and cultural heritage through interactions with archaeologist Ms. Prachi Mali. 68 students and 2 faculties attended this visit.
Session on Professional Email Writing
On July 30, 2022, the Department organised a one-day inter-departmental session on “Professional Email Writing”. Ms. Duheeta Joshi, Faculty Member, Department of BAMMC, spoke to 20 Students from the Departments of BAMMC and MACJ on learning to write emails skillfully in the professional world.
Ms. Joshi taught Students little tips and tricks on how to avoid mistakes to make emails a highly effective tool in professional communication. The feedback from the Students was highly positive
Career Guidance Session for Journalism Students
On June 23, 2022, the Department of BAMMC organized a career guidance session for its Students of Journalism. The speaker was Ms. Renu Nauriyal, Member of BOS, University of Mumbai, and former Chief Editor, Free Press Journal.
Ms. Nauriyal spoke about the challenges and opportunities in the field, various trending areas in journalism, the career prospects available and resolved their queries about the functions of media in society.
The session was attended by 20 Students and their feedback was highly positive.
One Day RUSA-sponsored International Webinar –
“Media Manch 2021-22”
On April 23, 2022, a one-day RUSA-sponsored International Event – “Media Manch 2021-22” – a Panel Discussion cum Social Awareness (educative) drive, was organized by the Department of BAMMC. Claude Kempen, Mr. Aditya Joshi (Student Representative), Mr. Rochan Mathur, Ms. Khushi Pahuja, and Ms. Rishika Mishra were invited as panelists. This year, the theme of Media Manch was the daring and controversial topic of ‘Mirrors of Masculinity – Representation and Identity in Advertising Images’. The event aimed to sensitise participants towards the gender roles defined in media (especially advertisements) and to help create an informed and responsible approach in the creation and advertisements of market and brands/products.
The event was attended by 120 participants comprising Students and Faculty Members, and their feedback was excellent.
Webinar on “Digital Media Design”
On September 24, 2021, the Department organized a one-day webinar on “Digital Media Design”, which was attended by 105 of its Students. The webinar aimed to provide Students with information about the fastes-growing new age industries of the world, career options available and the qualifications required, the best educational institutions in India and abroad, admission criteria, fees and peripheral resources, and how to become industry ready.
The resource persons were from ACIC Explora Foundation, and they introduced the concepts of Digital Media Design with discussion of case studies and experiences drawn from the industry.
The webinar ended with an interactive session.
Webinar on “Public Relations and Brand Communication”
On July 31, 2021, the Department organised a Webinar on “Public Relations and Brand Communication”, and was attended by a total of 90 students from the Department. The speaker was Ms. Lalima Nandgaonkar, an expert in the PR industry.
Ms. Nandgaonkar introduced Students to the concept of Brand Communication and discussed the current scenario in the industry. She explained the working of a public relations campaign with the help of a hypothetical situation. Ms. Nandgaonkar also stressed the importance of professional networking using such sites as LinkedIn, the need for an impressive biodata and the role of active social media handles and how to manage those handles professionally. The talk was followed by an interactive session.
Intercollegiate Webinar on “Understanding Stock Market Research”
On August 14, 2021, the Department organised a one-day Intercollegiate Webinar on “Understanding Stock Market Research”, which was attended by a total of 140 students from colleges across the City. The speaker was Mr. Mithil Doshi, an expert in the field. The webinar aimed to make students aware of the functioning of stock market and research.
Mr. Doshi shared his work experience of more than 10 years, and shared tips and techniques he used for commencing trading, as well as insights on the stock market. He explained the concepts of technical analysis, derivatives and trading. His talk was followed by an interactive session.
Webinar on Sales and Marketing
On September 21, 2021, the Department organised a Webinar on “Sales and Marketing”, which was attended by 70 students of the Department. The speaker was College Alumnus Ms. Vishwa Pai, Marketing and Sales Executive, Amazon.
Ms. Pai introduced Students to the current scenario in the areas of sales and marketing, and also discussed her own experiences in the industry so as to prepare Students about what to expect when they start work. Students asked her their questions and Ms. Pai interacted very candidly with them.
RUSA-sponsored One-day International Webinar – “Media Manch 2020-21”
On March 28, 2021, the Department of Multimedia and Mass Communication organized a RUSA-sponsored one-day International Webinar on “Censorship in OTT Platform” as part of their annual event “Media Manch”.
In this one-day Panel Discussion-cum-Social Awareness (educative) drive, the Department took up the controversial topic of censorship in OTT Platform. The event highlighted the various issues involved and the panelists were Prof. Sidharth Mishra, Akash PK (Student Representative), Mr. Arjun Sinha (Lawyer and Legal Advisor), Mr. Sakuna M. Gamage (Freelance Sri Lankan Journalist) participated.
The event was attended by 240 Students and Teachers from across the globe.
ISR initiative: Webinar on “Child Sexual Abuse Awareness” in association with NGO ‘Arpan’
On March 19, 2021, a webinar on “Child Sexual Abuse Awareness” was organized by the Department, in association with the NGO ‘Arpan’, as part of its ISR initiative.
‘Arpan’ is a pan-India NGO devoted to the cause of prevention of the issue of Child Sexual Abuse. The webinar sought to make participants aware of the basic issues involved, the legal and government initiatives such as the POCSO Act and the adult and child training programme organized by ‘Arpan’.
The Webinar was attended by 200 Students and Teachers of the College.
One day National Webinar on “Sales and Marketing”
On October 17, 2020, the Department of Multimedia and Mass Communication organized a National Webinar on “Sales and Marketing”, which was attended by 200 participants. The speaker was Ms. Sampurna Ghose, Co-creator at Purple Speaks and Co-founder at Project Democracy.
Ms. Ghose introduced the Students to concepts of sales and marketing and the current scenario in the industry. Using personal examples, she enabled Students to gain an insight into the actual situation they would face when they entered the industry.
Ms. Ghose’s talk was followed by an interactive session.
