On the occasion of the Diamond Jubilee year celebration of our College, the college had organised a Seminar on "Gudh Katalshilpanche” on 19th December 2024. The chief guest for the seminar was Mr. Satish Lalit, Katalship expert and member of the government's Swadesh Darshan Destination Management Committee. Joint Secretary and Trustee of Chikitsak Samuha Dr. Gurunath Pandit welcomed Mr. Satish Lalit with a bouquet of flowers. Chief Education Officer Dr. Mala Kharkar mam and Principal Dr. Pratibha Gaikwad mam were present for the event. The lecture was attended by more than three hundred people including professors, invited citizens and students. In his one and a half hour lecture, Mr. Lalit gave a presentation on carvings found in Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg districts of Konkan. On this occasion, he said that in the last two decades, more than fifteen hundred carvings have been found in more than seventy places in these two districts. Still unknown carvings are coming to light. In the month of March last year, the world organisation 'UNESCO' has included nine places including eight in Konkan and one in Goa in the provisional list of 'World Heritage Sites'. Kudopi is the largest carving site in the district and more than 80 carvings have been found at the 'Bahulyanche temb'. The carvings on the Dhangarwadi Sada in Khotale are worth seeing. He also informed that he has recently discovered the first carving sculpture of a hunting man with a boar and a weapon in his hand at the Dhamapur Mogarne Sada in Konkan. Mr. Lalit gave a detailed review of the major carving sites in both the districts, the nine places declared by 'UNESCO', the period of carvings, the concept, the objectives of digging them, the meaning, the relationship between them was also discussed. Sculpture sites can become international tourist destinations. But effective use of conservation, protection, facilities and publicity will attract tourists in large numbers. He asserted that this will contribute to the economic development of the local citizens along with the development of the tourism sector.
In the spirit of festive joy and cultural exuberance, the quadrangle within Patkar-Varde College was illuminated with the brilliance of our cultural heritage during our recent Diwali celebrations. From classical dance performances that transported us to another era to contemporary renditions that resonated with the pulse of the present, each performance left a lasting impression on the audience. This cultural mosaic enriched by soulful music and captivating drama thoroughly echoed the festive sentiments of the season.
As we celebrate the 60th year of our beloved institution under the theme, the Indian Knowledge System, we are delighted to share a moment that beautifully captures the essence of our cultural celebration. This Rangoli, stretching across an impressive 66 by 44 feet, which is 3744 sq ft is the result of the dedication and collaboration of our incredibly talented students, along with the famous Indian artist, Mr. Akshay Mestri, who came together to craft a spectacular Rangoli in the heart of our college quadrangle.
In the vibrant tapestry of cultural celebrations, Diwali, the festival of lights, stands out as a radiant thread that binds communities together in India and beyond. At Patkar Varde College, the spirit of Diwali is not just confined to traditional rituals; it expands into a kaleidoscope of creativity through the annual Rangoli Competition. This event, eagerly anticipated by students, illuminates the campus with colors, patterns, and artistic prowess. The rhythmic sound of powders being sifted and the delicate movements of skilled hands evoke a sense of reverence for this ancient art form. Spectators gather around, admiring the intricate details and vibrant hues that adorn the floor, each Rangoli telling a story of tradition, innovation, and collective imagination. Total 46 students were participated. Judges, comprising faculty members and invited artists, evaluate the Rangoli based on criteria such as creativity, originality, symmetry, and overall visual impact.
