A guest lecture for S.Y.B.M.M and T.Y.B.M.M. (Journalism) was organized by Lubna Yusuf Moosa, Lecturer, BMM on August 2011. The lecture was conducted by Mr.Milind Kokje.
Mr. Kokje has been a journalist for 30 years. He is associated with Multimedia. He has worked for print, television and internet. The major organizations he is been associated to are: The Times of India, Zee News, Maharashtra Times Online, PTI and the list goes on. It has been noted that very few students opt for Journalism as specialization in the final year of BMM as they consider that there is not much ‘scope’ in the field. It was therefore decided that, the topic of discussion for S.Y.B.M.M would be, ‘Career Opportunities and Scope in Journalism’. Mr. Milind shared his personal experiences with the students and the students were mesmerized by it. With a person of such a caliber, the lecture was made very interesting and interactive.
Kokje has also been a part of the paper setting panel in the University of Mumbai. He has earlier set Reporting paper for T.Y.B.M.M (Journalism). Keeping this is mind, he was asked to give a lecture focusing on the subject of Reporting for T.Y.B.M.M students. He gave a lecture on the various topics included in the syllabus. His main focus was investigative journalism as he had certain first hand experiences in this regard.
The response from students was stupendous. They were thankful to Mr. Kokje to have come and furnish them with such a fruitful lecture. It not only provided them knowledge but also a path to selected their carrier. It was a window to the field of journalism where students were shown a glimpse of the ‘REAL WORLD’ |
