  Interview Techniques and Resume-Writing
 
The placement cell organized a presentation on December 4, 2010, on “Interview Techniques and Résumé-Writing”.

Mr. Manoj Saigal, Mr. Dinesh Dhopate and Mr. Nancy from the Relic Academy made a MS Power Point Presentation to students on the topic.

Mr. Saigal is a gold medalist in mechanical engineering from the prestigious V.J.T.I. He also holds an M.M.S. degree from the Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies and was awarded the 1st rank at all-India level. He is currently the Director of Relic Academy, which coaches students for the entrance examinations to MBA and MCA courses.

Mr. Dinesh Dhopte has over 15 years of industrial experience and holds an MSc degree as well as Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management.

Mr. Nancy has been with the Tatas for 30 years and is an expert in group discussion and personal interview skills with MBA students.

The first half of the program consisted of a lecture each on Interview techniques and Résumé-writing. The second half was devoted to interaction with the students, and also included a role-play session where students participated in mock interviews as prospective candidates.

The program received tremendous response from the students. They were made aware of the intricacies and finer details of self-presentation and the soft skills needed for succeeding at interviews.   Women’s Development Cell
 
On December 4, 2010, the College Women’s Development Cell organized a special programme for girl students.

The programme consisted of two lectures and the screening of a documentary film. The first lecture was titled ‘Diet and Nutrition during Adolescence’ and was delivered jointly by Prof. Anuradha Mitra from the Department of Food and Dietetics, Nirmala Niketan, and Dr. Zubeida Tumbi, Consultant Nutritionist and Dietician, Kedy Polyclinic, Nagpada, Mumbai. The second lecture was about ‘Menstrual Disorders and Fertility Problems Among Girls’ by Dr. Sunanda Jathar, a well-known gynaecologist.

A documentary titled ‘Jor Se Bolo’, about sexual harassment faced by women in public places, was also screened. The film was provided by ‘Akshara’, a women’s resource centre.

The programme was well-attended by girl students, as well as the women teaching and non-teaching staff, and was highly appreciated.
 
   
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
  Chemspark Guest Lectures
 
On October 4, 2010, Chemspark organised guest lectures for TYBSc students of the Department of Chemistry. The speakers were Mr. N. G. Jain (Head, Department of Chemistry, B.N.N. College, Bhivandi) and Mrs. Kalpana Patankar Jain, Vice-Principal, B.N.N. College, Bhivandi).

Mr. Jain’s lecture was on the topic of ‘Co-ordination Chemistry’, while Mrs. Patankar Jain spoke on the newly-introduced topic in the TYBSc revised syllabus, ‘Quality Control in Analytical Chemistry’. Both speakers gave students fresh insights into the topics and advised them on aspects related to examinations.
